Crashed Ferrari coffee table

This is a coffee table containing the compacted remains of a Ferrari inside constructed by designer Charly Molinelli.

He came up with the idea after a customer asked him to design something “a bit special” for their front room.

He then sourced a wreck and built a wooden cabinet on wheels to present to his client – although the price of the swanky piece is unknown.

The French artist said: “It was hard to find a Ferrari that had been crashed hard enough for it to be completely written off.

“As you can imagine it does not happen every day. But with a lot of luck, we did find a garage which had one that we and the customer approved of. It was just right.”

Make lemonade.

Amar Stewart @ LAVA

On 10th March we welcome Amar Stewart to showcase his work at LAVA Gallery. Amar will present a collection of his new studio work, encompassing the mediums of watercolour, pencil and spray paint.
Amar Stewart is the Founder and Creative Director of the Aum Brand clothing line. He is also developing a reputation as a gifted proponent of photo-realistic graffiti. But as this show will demonstrate, Amar is a well-rounded artist who is not afraid to explore other mediums. Amar’s friend Joe Holtham summed up his work beautifully:

”Amar’s work is all about progression for me. I have been there from the start, the dark days……heavy metal mixed up with Horror movies and Asian females. Some of his early works scare the hell out of me.

His latest stuff has evolved so much, what he can do with a can of 94 is insane. Contrasting and realistic is how I see his work now, he captures every detail…and at a pace too. The monochrome palettes he uses project simplicity, its only when you get close that you realise the level of detail and the effort to capture and reflect his muse…The details take you captive”

The opening party on 10th March is sponsored by Tiger Beer.

Amar Stewart at LAVA Gallery, 10-17th March. Open daily; 11am-7pm. Sundays; 12-6pm.
